Come join the Upward Bound team in supporting our participants to reach their goals of succeeding in high school, going to college & earning a postsecondary degree!

Operating in the two largest high schools in Tacoma, this position focuses on a caseload of about 60 participants who have an interest in math and/or science related fields. The incumbent proactively guides each participant along their educational path. Along the way, the incumbent assists participants individually and in groups to identify their interests and goals, share resources, refine their personal narratives, and develop advocacy skills. Through consistent presence and active listening, the position assesses each participant’s strengths and needs and co-develops plans of actions with youth and families to increase academic success and with support of the Upward Bound team and target school staff. The position is also responsible for teaching, planning, and developing curriculum for the Academic Year program and Summer Program tailored to college and career interests in the participant caseload.
